Specialist William B Allen is a U.S. Army medic who served a tour to accompany the two rounds of the war in Iraq. He spent 27 months there. He recently completed a three-week treatment program for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the Warrior Combat Stress Reset Center at Fort Hood, the largest U.S. military base in the world."Being a medical troops on the battlefield, we must 'live' for 24 hours a day. We deal with mass casualty events, or a woman suicide bomber who blew up the hospital three times in a row. We are your people respond to it. I 'explode' a few times in my life."When you go back to America you will continue to be someone who is hyper. Insomnia will menghingapi you every four months. I am really mad."I started drinking alcohol, using drugs, even thought of suicide. I kept having nightmares tired, I want to see my friend who is dead."I have been in drug rehab for a month. My consultations with psychologists. At that time, the healing is only with the 'drink this pill.' ""Then they put me in this program. They said I was going through reiki, massage, yoga, acupuncture, and the first thought in my mind, I will undergo treatment or mystical voodoo."When I was in this condition, I am really angry about everything. It all makes me upset and angry. I was really scared."But then, my mind becomes open, because I'm sure, I'll do the best. In recent days a complementary alternative therapies, I feel it. I became realistic."I can sleep better now. Last week, I slept all night without sedation, using breathing techniques, relaxation techniques."The hard part for me was returning to the battlefield. Return as a medical officer and deal with the bullets, amputations, a horrible death ... I'm not sure that I really want to do it."But I can help with other aspects of counseling, or treating. There are many souls that need to be healed as well. Everything should be taken into account, and at this moment I do not mind spreading such aspects."The unfortunate thing is there is no counseling facilities are inadequate. There are 12 soldiers at a time, where there could be 1200 soldiers who may need counseling and care."Everyone is affected. I have never found a single person who is not affected. Finally, no matter who you are, war will always affect you. War will change your life." (Sa / bbc)
